Memory cards and cables used with iMovie on Mac. To import media from your recording device to your Mac, you need to remove the memory card from your device and insert it into either your Mac or a memory card reader. You can also connect your device directly to your Mac using the appropriate cable. The following items are necessary to transfer video to an Apple® Macintosh® computer from an 8mm or Hi8™ camcorder: The computer must have compatible video capture software installed, such as iMovie®. The computer must have a FireWire® serial bus (IEEE 1394) connection. The GZ-HD300 records in AVCHD and is an excellent choice for iMovie '09 as long as you have an Intel processor on your Mac. IMovie '09 supports AVCHD which makes the GZ-HD300 about as close to a plug n' play setup as you can get.
I know Apple has the Camcorder support list here but it states that those listed are obviously only the ones tested. I was interested in getting the Sony HDR-XR200V 120GB High Definition Handycam Camcorder, which isn't listed, but I have no way of telling if it isn't listed because they tested it and it wasn't compatible, or if they just never tested it. Does anyone have any experience with this camera on a mac and with iMovie? Oh and I do have the Intel Core Duo Processor like it says you should if shooting in HD.
Thanks!
Thanks!
